Why Go Green
With all of the “going green” hoopla over the past few years, it is important to understand this basic truth: a few small changes in our approach to daily life can have a huge impact on the health of the planet. Going green is not only a way to make healthier choices with the products we use and the foods we eat. It’s a way to recognize that everything we do, every day, has an impact on our planet, for better or for worse.
All of our choices as individuals–where we live, what we eat, the products we use, whether we recycle, how we shop, and even vote—all have a global impact. Anything we “throw away” doesn’t really mean it just “goes away.” Our earth and its atmosphere is an enclosed entity that works synergistically. If something we create is not reusable, then it simply becomes waste, harvesting the potential to damage our environment. It is important that we all try to create and utilize reusable and sustainable products that are healthy for all aspects of life on earth.
Going green is more than a label or a fad, it is a concrete state of mind that involves taking responsibility for your actions and making conscious choices for your loved ones and the environment. There is a give and take, an action and reaction, which takes place with all the many things we consume–food, energy, water, oil, clothing, cosmetics, household products, and the list goes on. Going green isn’t just about saving the rain forests, spending less money on household utilities, or improving your health. It is about creating a better quality of life for all.
It is simple to make small changes in our lives today that inspire a positive impact on tomorrow. With that said, why wouldn’t we all want to go green?
