Fall Winter 2011 Must Have Runway Beauty Trends

Fall 2011 makeup trends are full of fun and color. Almost as if the summer palette has somehow found its way to Fall. The good news is that lots of eccentric makeup colors give you the opportunity to play around and express yourself through your makeup. Try smokey mettalic eyes with navy and gold, or try shades of forest green with a bit of black. Deep shades of burgundies and reds showed up on many a lip as well as baby pink and nudes. Tis the season to experiment with color and texture.

Jil Sander gave us a beautiful turquoise eye with a tomato red lip. Matte skin is a must when wearing this look. Great with jeans and a white tee – this look is timeless.

Phillip Lim shows us how beautifully color blocking works with makeup. I love how this look is splashed with shades of metallic green, making it whimsical, fun and refreshing while the weather outside seems to be grey.

Gucci is what seems to me a more typical Fall face. A rich jeweled mouth with a heavy gloss and a defined eye with a copper hue. A heavier look than most but a very beautiful look indeed.

Donna Karan has one of my favorite looks. A sepia toned eye, a baby pink lip and luminous skin. Grace Kelly with a modern twist.

Dries Van Noten shows an easy way to appear fresh with any outfit. A wash of gold around the eye and a matte, rose nude mouth makes it seem as though summer is still here.

Chloe I adore for the spidery lashes and the “lived in” brown eye. The freckles on the face were placed just where the sun would hit giving you a fresh fall face.

2011 Spring Beauty Trends Have Sprung

The eye-popping colors, elegant whites and flowing neutrals of the Spring 2011 runway shows keep us anticipating that breath of fresh spring air to come. With influences bursting with the California cool of the ’70s and the unforgettable street vibe of the ’80s, the beauty trends that have sprung from these incredible spring fashions are just as mouthwatering at the couture.

Marc Jacobs flaunted 70′s glam with a twist using a green-black shadow on eyelids with lots of sparkle and shine, while matte burgundy lips offered up a contrasting look.

Derek Lam made a true statement without much effort, opting to play with color to give the eyes a delicate yet exciting punch. Using a reddish orange lip pencil to coat the upper lash line and a hint of highlighter at the inner corners of the eyes. Black mascara and a creamy neutral lip were the finishing touches to this look.

Gucci flaunted luminous, bronzed skin and a noteworthy orange-red glossy lip which added a fun yet classic punch of color for Spring.

Roberto Cavalli showcased a sultry 1970′s hippie chic makeup look. Brown/beige shadow covers the entire eyelid and is taken up into perfectly groomed brows. Lash lines both inside and out are lined with black eyeliner while lashes are finished with a touch of black mascara.

Jil Sander went with pristine skin and shockingly pink lips! Sophisticated chic meets modern day street. These neon statement lips are just as bright as the fun colors we get to see and experience this Spring.

Christian Dior‘s 40′s and 50′s inspired creations for Spring were accented with technicolor eyes and flaming red lips, as each model made their way down the runway in sheer washes of pink, purple and green eyeshadow framed by bold brows and winged out liner.

Alexander McQueen had a gorgeous whimsical look as each model took on an elegant medieval look. With a simple makeup palette, skin was matte with brows and lashes left undefined. Lips were bare as a light dusting of white-gold shadow softly coated the eyelid.

Calvin Klein girls looked natural, clean and fresh with a minimalist’s approach to makeup, while utilizing a statement upper lash line.

Prada went for bold and reflective, as models sported full bushy brows with a metallic silver eye and clean skin.

Fall Winter 2010 Beauty Trends

The New York Fall/Winter runway shows were dominated by barely there makeup looks emphasizing clean flawless skin, the glam and simplicity of the 1950′s, bold dark purple lips, and the classic glow of old Hollywood glamour.

Prada had the most simple yet gorgeously flawless skin complimented by bold brows that were an instant attraction.

Devi Kroell flaunted the quintessential yet over exaggerated cat eye giving each model the perfect femme fetal look to compliment the gigantic fur hats that adorned each of their heads.

Armani Prive sent us back in time to a glossy version of classic old Hollywood with golden beige undertones complimented by shimmering highlights, casting a warm orange tint to the eyes, and a perfectly sculpted brow.

Derek Lam models streamed down the runway in a gorgeous dark blue/turquoise smokey eye that spread its color all the way up to the brow line. A great fall evening look for the eyes that adds the perfect bit of drama.

Peter Som took our attention straight to the lips of each of his models by immersing them in a vibrantly dark purple lipstick that was simply stunning and elegant all at the same time.

Dolce Gabbana had everyone loving the Mad Men inspired looks of the 1950′s. A simple red lip with crisp black eyeliner applied only to the tops of the lash line.

Michael Kors gave us the picture perfect classic American girl look with pink cheeks, shimmering smokey eyes and a simple ponytail.

Roberto Cavalli girls were the essence of boho chic, with polished complexions and seductive smokey eyes.

Diane Von Furstenberg showcased a multidimensional eye that shimmered with drama, decorating and defining the inner edges with a little sparkle while lining the entire eye with a black shadow and layering the rest of the eye with blue and green hues to add a hint of color.

Spring Summer 2010 Beauty Trends

The New York Spring fashion shows proved to be overflowing with beauty looks and trends that have left me inspired for days. With the 80′s still leading the way with bright flashy palettes and bold application, the Spring 2010 runways were undoubtable ruled by one of our most beloved inspirational decades. From loud and avant-garde to the pure and polished, the colors and tones of Spring awaken us to a season filled with new beauty revelations.

Derek Lam unveiled the most interesting with what looks to be an apricot, purple and silver blue laced eye, 80′s inspired but a much softer color palette than fall.

Donna Karan showcased a gorgeous muted palette with a stunningly bold white eyeliner applied only to the tops of eyelids and a nude barely there lip.

Rag & Bone had one of the most wearable makeup looks, with a muted mouth and coppery eye.

Marc By Marc Jacobs gave the lips a nice pop. Keeping up with an all time Spring favorite, as all models flaunted a perfectly pink lip.

Kate and Laura from Rodarte were inspired by the California Condors and how they must scavage to survive, hence the VERY dark mouth with a cherry blood center.

Christian Dior inspired by Spring revealed bold pastels – Lavender eyes with a bright reddish pink mouth.

Marc Jacobs being more about a character, feeling very geisha inspired with a white shadow application going from center of eyelids straight into the eyebrow, while bold black liner lined the eyes.

Cynthia Roley featured a whimsical pastel pink eye against navy, purple and green watercolor prints.

At Vera Wang a heavy brow was the focus with simple yet flawless skin and a natural lip.

Fall Winter 2009 Beauty Trends ~ What Is Hot Now!

As we are now rolling in to the Fall season it is time to consider your makeup application.
The Fall 2009 season was heavily influenced by the 80′s. Bold colors in just about every imaginable shade, focusing on the richer heavier tones. Deep browns, smokey greys, charcoal blacks and rich shades of greens and plums. Mineral quality Metallics are showing up everywhere and have the ability to lift these dark shades outside of themselves. The “HOT” color for fall is focused on the color purple showing up on nails, eyes and even lips. As both Fall and Winter clothes seem to be heavier fabric and more layered, balancing out your look with a heavier and more precise makeup application is the way to go. If you were missing being a distinctive beauty – now is your time. Get creative, allowing yourself the opportunity to experience and play!

Think of Robert Palmer, Stephen Sprouse and Blondie. Smokey eyes, purple liner applied inside, think of lakes and trees, 8 tracks and good times.
