We have already seen the Spring Looks of 2012, now it is time to learn how to do them on yourself. For the next month I will be posting my favorite runway looks and giving you the lowdown on exactly how to implement these looks, and with clean makeup of course.
Enjoy!

Makeup artist Tom Pecheux was looking to the lovely state of California for this runway inspiration. A beautifully bronzed eye with a blast of yellow on the eyelid which he referred to as the “California Sun”.
Of course I am such a fan of California, so this just might be my favorite Spring 2012 look.

1. First apply REN Moisture Defense Serum all over face giving your skin a burst of shine.

2. Using Jane Iredale Khaki Kraze, mix the brown and olive green and apply to the crease of eye blending up into brow bone. Using the yellow shadow from Jane Iredale’s Artists’ Eyes Eye Shadow Palette and apply to the eyelid only.

3. Be sure to give yourself a sculptured brow as this completes the look.

4. Finish eyes with a soft brown mascara (such as Jane Iredale Agate Brown) to upper and lower lashes. Be sure to comb through.

5. Apply Dr. Hauschka Translucent Bronze Concentrate to contour of cheeks.

6. Last apply Jane Iredale Pure Gloss in Gold Fling to your lips.

Whether you go to the on trend waxer, or the DIY studio in your bathroom, let’s get one thing straight: eyebrows are not to be messed with. Eyebrows frame our eyes, they can be beautiful, make us look years younger, or they can make people question whether or not we looked in the mirror this morning. I firmly believe that eyebrows can make or break your look, and are therefore, not to be over-plucked. Who are we kidding, a drawn on, thin line is no excuse for a bold and beautiful brow. One woman stands out when I think of great brows: Brooke Shields. She’s made a name from those babies! And for the younger crowd, up-and-comer Lily Collins has got some pretty fantastic brows too.

Brooke Shields, Vogue 1987

Today I’m spotlighting those arches that add to our expressions but are often overlooked in importance. I want to tell you why and how to let them be natural. Sometimes we worry they look unruly—and don’t get me wrong, they can—but more often than not, the more brow you’ve got, the better. Now, I’m not saying let’s go full Frida unibrow here. I’m talking about not over-grooming. Trust me when I say I know it’s hard to resist plucking that stray hair that’s not quite below your brow but doesn’t fit in either and that other one that’s annoying you, but then before you know it, you’ve lost that lush thickness and have to create a brow each morning. Serious ugh!

To keep your brows perfectly framing your face, here are some of our tips. First, just pluck those outliers and keep your basic natural shape. Don’t let the ends get too thin if you’re keeping a bold brow and keep them even. Always clean up the middle—avoid the Frida look. If you’re a fan of self-maintenance, you can go just once to a studio for a little shaping help then keep it up at home. I suggest investing in a good pair of slanted tweezers, which will get those elusive little brow hairs. It’s pretty simple really, I’m a fan of simplicity. Who has time for complicated these days anyway?

Whomever you choose to go to, make sure you tell them exactly what you want (see our above tips). And tell her to take off less rather than more. You can always take it off, but you can’t put it back on—you’ve got to grow it back.

Really, brows are much more low maintenance than we think they are. We just have to take a cue from some bold ladies (ahem Cindy Crawford, Brooke Shields, and Lily Collins) let them be natural!

Lily Collins

All this crazy weather in Los Angeles has my lips feeling out of sorts. Its hot, its cold, I’m in the sun, then I’m bundled up next to a heater. My lips are definitely suffering so I turn to one of my favorite lip treatments, Jane Iredale’s Lip Drink. It’s made with all natural ingredients and of course, has an SPF 15 to protect against additional sun damage while it soothes.

About the company:

Jane Iredale is the president and founder of Iredale Mineral Cosmetics. She was the first to supply the aesthetics industry with a full-line of makeup based on minerals and the first to see the potential of offering physicians a makeup that was good for the skin. She has worked with world-renowned plastic surgeons and dermatologists in the development of her line and lectures all over the world on its benefits.

Before she formed her cosmetics company in 1994, Jane Iredale’s background had been in film, theatre and television. Her experience in working with women whose careers depended on a clear complexion has allowed her to see how skin disorders and sensitivities not only threaten careers but can also destroy self-confidence. This is what led her to develop a makeup line that could contribute to the lives of women by aiding the health of the skin.

It can be hard to pick out skincare or color cosmetics as Christmas gifts, but if you wish to give the gift of beauty here are some wonderful products that stand alone and are sure to make any girl happy.

Jane Iredale Dot the I
I cant keep enough of these on hand. Great for touch-ups on and off set. A perfect addition to anyone’s makeup bag.

Weleda Skin Food

This has always been one of my favorite products. I can not get on a plane without it. The scent is intoxicating. Beware though this cream is thick.

Dr. Hauschka Aromatherapy Bath Kit

If your recipient happens to travel a lot, this is a great gift to guarantee a relaxing bath when they arrive at their destination. And they fit easily in your carry on. There are 5 oils to choose from: Lemon, Lavender, Rosemary, Spruce or Sage. You can also break up a set and give to 5 different people!

Pangea Lip Care

A great consistency and 3 flavors to choose from, these are perfect for a stocking stuffer or to tie in a bow to beautify any package.

Sparitual Black Board Eco-Nail File
If you are anything like me you can’t keep up with nail files. I would be ecstatic if someone bought me these, and they are biodegradable!

Natural Beauty Expert Christy Coleman dishes her expertise on how to recreate the Fall 2011 Jil Sander makeup look of the runways into a DIY masterpiece - all with natural and organic makeup.

This Fall Jil Sander gave us a beautiful turquoise eye with a tomato red lip. Matte skin is a must in order to complete this look. Great with jeans and a white tee – this look is timeless. Here is how you can get this gorgeous fall look with all natural makeup…

Take a few moments to allow for the hydration to absorb into the skin. Since this is a matte look blot the skin with tissue removing any excess shine.

2. Apply Jane Iredale Dream Tint in your color choice making sure to blend.

4. Apply Dr. Hauschka Translucent Powder to set skin making sure eye lid is powdered.

5. Trace a thick wing of Lagona Eyeliner in #5 Turquoise across the upper lashes.

6. Curl lashes. Apply Jane Iredale PureLash Lengthening Mascara in Brown Black to upper lashes only.

7. Comb eyebrows up and fill in any holes as this look has a finished brow.

8. Using Jane Iredale Twice Blushed Cheek Color Kit, apply Ginger directly under cheekbones. Then dust Whisper on apples of cheek.

9. Trace the shape of the lips with Couleur Caramel Lip Pencil in Red and then using a lip brush, apply Jane Iredale Lipstick in Nicole.

10. Layer Dr. Hauschka Translucent Powder and lipstick to amp up the color to create electric tomato lips.

Christy Coleman reviews the must haves of the Fall 2011 Runway Beauty trends. Fall 2011 makeup trends are full of fun and color. Almost seeming like the summer palette has found its way to Fall.

Fall 2011 makeup trends are full of fun and color. Almost as if the summer palette has somehow found its way to Fall. The good news is that lots of eccentric makeup colors give you the opportunity to play around and express yourself through your makeup. Try smokey mettalic eyes with navy and gold, or try shades of forest green with a bit of black. Deep shades of burgundies and reds showed up on many a lip as well as baby pink and nudes. Tis the season to experiment with color and texture.

*From left to right

Jil Sander gave us a beautiful turquoise eye with a tomato red lip. Matte skin is a must when wearing this look. Great with jeans and a white tee – this look is timeless.

Phillip Lim shows us how beautifully color blocking works with makeup. I love how this look is splashed with shades of metallic green, making it whimsical, fun and refreshing while the weather outside seems to be grey.

Gucci is what seems to me a more typical Fall face. A rich jeweled mouth with a heavy gloss and a defined eye with a copper hue. A heavier look than most but a very beautiful look indeed.

*From left to right

Donna Karan has one of my favorite looks. A sepia toned eye, a baby pink lip and luminous skin. Grace Kelly with a modern twist.

Dries Van Noten shows an easy way to appear fresh with any outfit. A wash of gold around the eye and a matte, rose nude mouth makes it seem as though summer is still here.

Chloe I adore for the spidery lashes and the “lived in” brown eye. The freckles on the face were placed just where the sun would hit giving you a fresh fall face.
