When deciding on an image for Portrait of a Natural Beauty I looked no further than friend and ridiculously talented Jason Naylor. It seems every week I poke around on his website to get inspired. Jason drew this iconic mouth so every time you see it you know Portrait of a Natural Beauty is to follow! Here is a brief bio on this exciting man and his answers. I hope you enjoy Portrait of a Natural Beauty as much as I do!

Jason was born in Salt Lake City Utah and spent his youth doodling on homework and drawing on his hands and arms and clothes. He draws and doodles and sketches and illustrates and designs art – directs and takes pictures and scans and colors them in and looks at blogs and flips through magazines and tears out pages and pins them on walls and asks questions and draws on everything from chairs and notebook covers to clothing and walls. Jason’s creations have been seen in V Magazine, Pop, Wonderland, and Paper and Paris Vogue. In 2009 Jason was Nominated as an International Fashion Group Rising Star. His work can also be seen in various books including DESIGN & DESIGN: BOOK OF THE YEAR VOL 4, AND VICTION: ARY’S LOGOLOGY2…and all over the wall of his bathroom.

Get Juicing – Here is my favorite Green Detox Juice Recipe:
Thoroughly wash and combine organically grown celery, kale, parsley, cucumber, lemon and spinach from your local farmers market and run them through your juicer. Not only is this juice refreshing and delicious, it is REALLy good for you.

Drink Detox Tea – I am obsessed with Kumsi Detox Tea

Get Working Out – I love Yoga or even Bikram Yoga to jump-start my mind and body.

Relax – Take an Epsom Salt Bath which helps pull impurities from the skin, and relax muscles.

Move That Lymph System – Use a body brush daily.

Invigorate Your Senses – Spray Eucalyptus or Grapefruit Essential Oil into the steam of a warm shower and breathe deeply.

Do:

Reduce or avoid red meat

Avoid Caffeine from coffee as it is especially dehydrating and has the ability to block the absorption of vital vitamins that are necessary for optimum health.

Don’t:

Eat processed foods – Avoid products that have been manufactured and packaged.

Drink Alcohol – We all know how much havoc alcohol can create within our bodies. Alcohol really dehydrates the body while it has the ability to throw our sugar levels completely out of balance.

I know that all of this can sound daunting to most, but as soon as you are able to formulate a regimen that is right for you…..you will be on your way to feeling refreshed and cleansed. Your skin will be much happier too!

Body Scrub Recipe:

Himalayan Sea Salt and Honey Body Scrub – Mix Jojoba Oil, Pink Himalayan Sea Salt and Whipped Honey from your farmer’s market or Trader Joes. Chop up and mix/grind fresh rosemary and/or mint into the salt, honey and oil mixture. Jump in the shower and scrub your entire body to slough off dead skin, awaken your senses and hydrate your skin all at the same time.

Facial Mask Recipes:

Orange Pulp Mask – Mash up one orange and apply to skin before a shower. This is a great way to brighten up fatigued and dull skin.

Manukah Honey Mask – Apply a spoonful of Manukah Honey to the skin in an upward motion to the entire face. Let it soak into the skin for 15 -20 minutes and rinse with a warm damp wash cloth. Manukah Honey is incredible for purifying and hydrating the skin.

Fresh Mint Mask – Combine chopped organic mint with almond oil and apply to clean skin. Let rest on face and neck for 15 minutes and remove gingerly with a warm damp wash cloth and massage into the skin. Your skin will feel hydrated, refreshed and calm in no time.

Hair Mask Recipe:

Avocado and Oil Hair Mask – Mash and mix 1/2 of an Avocado with 2 tablespoons of room temperature Coconut Oil, 2 tablespoons Olive Oil and 10 drops of Rosemary Oil. This incredible hair mask restores moisture as the rosemary oil helps to restore and stimulate your hair and your senses. Comb through and rinse.

Body Oil Recipe:

Luxurious Body Oil – Combine any combination of Organic Jojoba, Coconut, Argan or Olive oil. Each of these oils are great on their own as well. All of these oils are all natural emollients that help to protect and condition the skin.

* Always be sure that the oils you are using are in their purest form and not from synthetic origin – look for raw, organic and natural oils at your local grocery or specialty store.
