As someone who has worked (exhaustively) to formulate mineral sunscreens, I’ll just say that it’s tough. It’s hard to make a mineral sunscreen that performs in the way we’re accustomed to with traditional sunscreens. I’m happy to see the industry evolve and more brands embrace mineral-based options.

If you’re anything like me, you care about the health of your skin. The following sunscreens have become my go-to’s for protecting my face, neck, decolletage, and body from the sun.
One. Beautycounter Countersun Daily Sheer Defense for Face SPF 25: This lightweight option utilizes mineral-based ingredients like zinc oxide to provide broad-spectrum UVA, UVB, and HEV blue light ray protection while still delivering a smooth finish without any white residue or unwanted film. Definitely one of my everyday favorites.
Two. Le Prunier Plumscreen SPF 31: If you’re a fan of Le Prunier’s Plum Beauty Oil, (who isn’t?) you’ll love their sunscreen. This product dries down to a weightless satin finish.
Three. True Botanicals Skin Barrier Sun Shield SPF 30 : A hypoallergenic sunscreen that combats uneven skin tone and texture without clogging pores. This formula is packed with plant extracts like Chebula and Vegan Pea Peptides.
Shield Your Body
Sun protection shouldn’t stop at your shoulders, so don’t forget to apply to anywhere that is exposed. These sunscreens are great for all-over protection.
Eleven by Venus Williams Game. Set. Match Body Lotion SPF 30: Formulated by tennis champion, Venus Williams, this non-sticky lotion is packed with powerful plant-based antioxidants for added skincare benefits. What I like about this formula is that it spreads and absorbs with the ease of a body lotion and smells great too!
Suntegrity Mineral Sunscreen: Boasting an all-natural, vegan formula, this mineral sunscreen offers water-resistant broad-spectrum protection while remaining gentle on the environment. It also contains Pomegranate seed oil, Green tea extract, and Cucumber extract for a boost of antioxidants and skin-softening protection.
Go Tinted For a Beauty Boost
I love a tinted sunscreen as it can help diffuse the white pigment of a mineral sunscreen. These formulas shield your face from harmful rays and give you a fresh face look. The products below are in my current sunscreen rotation.

Bloomeffects Tulip Dew Vitamins and Minerals Sunscreen Serum SPF 50: Featuring Dutch tulip extracts, this serum delivers vital skincare nutrients with a slight, cool tint that blends to a sheer radiant finish. The texture leans on the oilier side, making it great for drier skin in need of hydration. It’s an excellent choice if you are looking for a high SPF.
Iris&Romero Best Skin Days SPF 30: This light to medium coverage tinted moisturizer delivers top-notch broad-spectrum UV protection in an array of 12 shades. It’s got a mousse-like texture that dries to a light, not heavy finish with a bit more coverage than most tinted SPFs.
Saint Jane Luxury Sun Ritual Sunscreen SPF 30: I gravitate toward this sunscreen because it functions as a primer, pore minimizer, SPF, and moisturizer in one. This sunscreen has an excellent texture—its warm and subtle tint buffs to a translucent and dewy finish; it’s perfect under makeup or alone. Plus, it has a bright floral scent that I really love.
Hueguard Mineral SPF Moisturizer and Primer: Created for all skin types, this multi-functional sunscreen works as a moisturizer and primer and is fragrance-free and reef safe.
